Paleo Brownie Recipe!!

Hi guys! As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been doing a lot of experimenting in the kitchen lately trying to find healthy alternatives for my favorite desserts! I came upon this recipe for paleo brownies, so I decided to try them out! Below is the recipe, as well as my review of them!


  • 1 cup Almond Butter

  • ½ cup Homemade Almond Milk or Coconut Milk (I used Oat)

  • 3 Eggs

  • 2 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract

  • ¼ tsp Sea Salt (I did not add this)

  • ⅓ cup Cacao Powder

  • ¼ cup Raw Cane Sugar, Raw Honey, Agave, or 100% Pure Maple Syrup (I used agave but would have used maple syrup if I hadn’t run out of it)

  • ⅓ cup Dairy Free Chocolate Chips (I used regular chocolate chips and added a lot more—more like ⅔ cup)

  • ⅓ cup Chopped Nuts optional (I did not add any)


  • Grease 8x8 baking dish

  • Preheat oven to 350℉

  • Add all ingredients except for chocolate chips and nuts to a large bowl and mix with a hand mixer or a stand mixer

  • Stir in chocolate chips

  • Pour into prepared baking dish and sprinkle the top with chopped nuts (I sprinkled extra chocolate chips on top instead)

  • Bake for approximately 18 minutes (it took mine about 26 minutes)

Overall, I think that the brownies turned out pretty well. However, they definitely do not resemble normal brownies. To begin, they are super rich—I don’t personally mind this because I love chocolate but they definitely have a strong flavor. Second, the consistency is pretty different from regular brownies. The outside is a bit spongy and the inside is pretty gooey. Again, that’s not necessarily a problem as long as you don’t mind that texture. While this recipe is certainly a good healthy alternative, I’m gonna keep testing out different clean brownie recipes to see if I find one that I like even more!
